In Season: July to September

When it’s cucumber season, it's really cucumber season. There are lots of great recipes out there that include this most refreshing vegetable. Of course you can eat them raw in sandwiches, chilled soups or just on their own but have you ever tried them baked? See our recipe section for a great baked cucumber recipe.

Store cucumbers wrapped in a tea towel (or paper towel) in a plastic bag in the vegetable bin or your refrigerator. Be sure to keep them away from tomatoes, apples and citrus which give off ethylene gas and will cause the cucumbers to over ripen quicker.

Nutritional Information: 

Cucumbers are low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. They are also a good source of Vitamin A, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Manganese, and a very good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Potassium.
