Leeks have a lovely buttery taste that is milder than onions. They can be substituted for onions in almost any recipe but are also excellent as the star of dishes on they're own. Try them braised, grilled or steamed. They also make a great addition to soups and stocks. Flavour pairings for leeks include; butter, wine, a variety of cheeses, chervil, thyme, fennel, garlic, and mustard.

To store leeks, wrap unwashed leeks in a plastic bag in the vegetable bin of your refrigerator for up to a week.

Nutritional Information: 

Leeks are low in Sodium, and very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. They are also a good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin B6, Iron and Magnesium, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate and Manganese.
